Shipment Charges FAQ

How does SpeedLink calculate prices for shipments?

Pricing is calculated by either the total gross weight and volume that requires shipping, or the vehicle size required to accommodate the load and distance travelled. SpeedLink offers multiple options for shipment speed and security as well as consideration of the type of load. Please contact us for details on your specific mission requirement and transit time possibilities.

What is volumetric weight?

In general, rates for Express and Economy services are calculated based on weight. When shipments are large but relatively light, we also need to account for the amount of space the shipment requires in the truck, aircraft or vessel. Volumetric weight is a calculation that accounts for the volume of the shipment. This is called "volumetric" or "chargeable weight." The volumetric weight may be more than the actual weight of the shipment.

What is the weigh limit for a SpeedLink shipment?

For Express and Economy services, there is a limit of 70kg per piece. If the piece weight exceeds 70kgs, a surcharge per piece will apply. For time critical or direct drive services, the vehicle required to accommodate the shipment will be utilised. So it is important that SpeedLink is provided accurate weight and dimensions for each shipment at the time of booking.
