SpeedLink had the privilege of conducting an ashes scattering in Central Park, New York of the ashes of a lady named Joan from the UK in February 2025.

Joan passed away some years ago but had been an avid traveller with her husband. Joan had visited Central Park in New York many times and absolutely loved it. Since then, her husband has embarked on a mission to scatter token amounts of Joan's ashes in many places across the globe that she was particularly fond of.

Selecting a Suitable Ashes Scattering Location

Scattering ashes in New York State is permissible as long as guidelines are followed. This involved choosing a location that was not near a watercourse or footpath. A suitable wooded area was selected atop a hill that overlooked the park with views stretching into Midtown Manhattan.

In the end, it was a overcast day with a light flurry of snow. It made for a peaceful setting.
