The Simplest Way to Ship Ashes to Russia
Our three-step process makes it easy to transport cremated remains to Russia:
1 - Parcel the Ashes: Courier the ashes to a SpeedLink office or arrange for SpeedLink to collect them (collection is subject to additional charges).
2 - Documentation and Shipment: SpeedLink prepares all necessary documentation and ships the ashes to our Swiss facility, from where they are transported to Russia by road.
3 -Final Delivery: Russian Post handles the final mile and door-to-door delivery throughout Russia.

Packaging
Ashes must be shipped in a box measuring no more than 22.9cm x 15.2cm x 15.2cm (9" x 6" x 6")² Urns, containers or scatter tubes larger than these dimensions are not suitable for this service. SpeedLink can safely re-pack on request for a nominal fee.
Regulations & Paperwork
Regulations and paperwork are simple and straightforward with SpeedLink's International Cremated Remains Repatriation Services. The only paperwork required for cross-border transport is a Death Certificate and a Cremation Certificate or the local equivalents.³
Permission is not generally required to repatriate cremated remains anywhere. However, some countries require documentation or certificates of 'non-objection' when repatriating cremated remains which SpeedLink can help to arrange.

¹ Shipments are consolidated in the UK for onward transport by air and road via neutral third countries such as Switzerland, Turkey or the UAE. Service is available to/from most countries and territories. However, some countries require our personalised, hand-carry service.
² For this service, x-ray penetrable receptacles such as cardboard, plastic or wood measuring no more than 22.9cm x 15.2cm x 15.2cm are required.
³ Death and cremation certificates (or local equivalents) must travel with the shipment in all cases. These must be translated into Russian and ‘legalised’ prior to dispatch. Legalised documents then have an ‘apostille’ (stamped official certificate) attached. These are required for security and customs clearance purposes.

How Does It Work?
To arrange for a cremated remains shipment, simply Contact Us for immediate assistance.
- We need the full UK and destination address for the sender and receiver.
- We then need to ascertain the timeframe you require the shipment to be completed.
- This will allow us to provide you with a tailored quotation† and advise a transit time.
- On receipt of your instruction to proceed, an up-front payment by credit or debit card, BACS, Chaps, SEPA or similar electronic funds transfer is required to book the service.
- A Booking confirmation will be emailed with the above collection and delivery details as well as desired dates, times and additional services selected. An invoice will be attached.
- The cremated remains will need to be lodged with SpeedLink at our London (Farnborough) offices no later than the 15th of the month, in a cardboard box not more than 22.9cm x 15.2cm x 15.2cm (9”x 6” x 6”). SpeedLink can help with repackaging if required.
- The cremated remains shipment will then be forwarded to SpeedLink’s Swiss facility in Zurich later in the month.
- Once the cremated remains have arrived in Switzerland, SpeedLink will prepare them for international forwarding via Swiss Post, complete with packaging and customs declarations.
- Swiss Post then forwards the ashes via road to Russia where Russian Post - Почта России – then handles final mile / doorstep delivery to any area of Russia.

SpeedLink makes every effort to ensure all cremated remains shipments are handled with great care, dignity and professionalism.
For our Russia services, SpeedLink's liability ends upon the shipment being lodged with Swiss Post Limited in Zurich, or any other third party shipping service that facilitates onward connections with Russian Post - Почта России.
Once a shipment has been successfully lodged with any such third party, SpeedLink deems to have discharged it's responsibility to the consignor (shipper), limiting SpeedLink's responsibility to the consignment at that point.
The shipper accepts any and all risks, and agrees to indemnify SpeedLink against any claim resulting from the delay or failure on the part of Russian Post to handle, clear customs, ship, or deliver said consignment, and accepts that proof of delivery may not be possible from SpeedLink, Swiss Post or any other third party involved in the process.
